Well, Well

Michael Osterholm, an infectious disease expert and director of the Center for Infectious Disease and Research at the University of Minnesota, has criticized the White House’s coronavirus testing protocol, He claims it was not smart and likens it to “giving Secret Service agents squirt guns to protect Donald Trump”.

The N.Y Times speaking to officials who know of what happens during White House briefings claim Trump has “an extraordinarily short attention span. Rather than reading reports he relies on the words of friends and is regarded by insiders as “a performer who is always putting on a show”.

Recent quote from the orange faced one: “ Fox is doing nothing to help Republicans, and me, get re-elected on November 3rd.”. Another sad lovers’ break up.!

The NY daily news just published a 102 year old picture of football fans wearing face masks while the players didn’t. A Georgia Tech Alumni association photo shows the fans protecting themselves with face masks during the flu epidemic of 1918 which killed some 650,000 Americans, including my grandfather.

Fox News anchor Chris Wallace won’t be getting a holiday greeting card from White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. Seems he criticized her for lambasting reporters about their religious faith and lecturing them on what questions they should ask. Wallace added, “I spent six years in the White House briefing room covering Ronald Reagan. I have to say, I never — and in the years since — I never saw a White House press secretary act like that,” Wallace said on “Fox News Sunday..

Another case of a tv commentator inanely mouthing off. Brit Hume’s statement about Joe Biden wearing a protective mask claimed that the former Vice President “doesn’t look good in one”. Who does, you nimrod!  Remind me to shun any future “gems” from this overpaid bozo who once retained a reasonable reporter’s reputation.

Actor Richard Herd has left us. One of those familiar faces, his name wasn’t. We probably remember him most for his nearly dozen appearances in “Seinfeld” as Mr. Wilhelm, George Costanza’s boss when George, (Jason Alexander), worked for the New York Yankees. Did you know the owner of the team, George Steinbrenner, was voiced by the show’s co-creator Larry David? Who said this space wasn’t educational

Baloney

Another family member falsely spouting off, Eric Trump claiming that COVID-19 will “magically” disappear — after Election Day. He insists that the corona virus which has killed nearly 90,000 Americans is a hoax created by the Democrats to keep Dad from rallying his backers at campaign events. Sonny claims, as does Pops, that those gatherings of MAGA hats draws 50,000 each time. Wrong, they’ve never approached that number.

Uh shucks, I missed another Laura Ingraham “epic” during which she said. “If you want to stay at home, stay at home. But for the rest of us, we’ll make our own decisions. Since the so-called experts say it (the corona virus) will be around forever, it’s time to move on with our lives. The testing issue is just another Democrat red herring”. Ah yes, more proof that this great country allows anyone to express even their dumbest thoughts publicly.

I needn’t tell you that it’s certainly a strange world we’re living in these days. Now there’s a new element, the so called leader of the nation announced that he’s taking Hydroxychloroquin which has been proven ineffective against the corona virus and can cause residual physical effects such as cardiac problems. The blonde haired one claims the White House doctor gave him the go ahead to take the med but all other medical and well informed sources give a definite thumbs down on the use for which he’s intending it.  Yep, strange is the word.

Neil Cavuto of Fox news stated that Hydroxychloroquin  “can kill you”. Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed her concern labeling Trump as “morbidly obese”.  By the way, following Cavuto’s on air remark about the possible lethal effects of the med, Trump announced he was seeking “other sources” than Fox News. Ho hum.

Seems a four decade tradition is about to be ignored.  First-term presidents have hosted their immediate predecessor in the East Room for the first public showing of the portrait of the former president.  NBC states   that Barack Obama has “no interest” in taking part in the tradition as long as Trump occupies the Oval Office. Trump who frequently criticizes the former President has little desire to be seen in public with his predecessor.

Another episode from “Today’s Crazy World”: A Colorado Waffle House saw one Kelvin Watson allegedly shoot a clerk after being told that he couldn’t place a takeout order unless he wore a mask. When informed he left then returned with a mask which he did not put on, placed a gun on the counter and threatened to “blow the cook’s brains out”.  He then left but came back a third time, refusing to don the mask and shooting the employee who thankfully is recovering.

Can't Believe It

A rare quote which occupies this space that makes sense. President Barack Obama said recently:” Despite all the time that’s been lost, we can still make real progress against the virus, protect people from the economic fallout, and more safely approach something closer to normal if we start making better policy decisions now”.

While on the topic of Barack Obama his name is often brought up when Fox babblers such as Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham are searching to deflect blame from their White House guru.

Time Magazine’s cover story this week:  “There Are Sensible Ways to Reopen a Country. Then there’s America’s Approach

Who do you trust, Dr. Anthony Fauci, noted expert on infectious disease who says “If the state and local governments don’t follow guidelines for reopening, we could see an outbreak you might not be able to control, .leading to suffering that could be avoided” or administration cheerleader Senator Rand Paul who’s a member of “let’s open up the country now” crowd. Paul and his cohorts are certainly attempting to thwart the slippage of Trump support for his handling of the pandemic which has dipped from 53% in March to 43% currently.

If you happen to visit one of the “outdoor” restaurants now open you may notice something new on your bill, a coronavirus surcharge. Generally it’s $1.00 and is intended to replace escalating prices of meat, etc due to the pandemic. Most customers who have noted the additional charge thus far are accepting without complaint.

It may just be me but there seems to be an increase in the number of those  tv medication commercials since most of us have been homebound. Seems almost every break contains one of that variety with its exhausting list of disclaimers. Good grief.

Erring quote of the week: Hearing the sound of blaring truck horns during a Rose garden appearance by The Sultan of Scorn his response was ““You hear that outside, that beautiful sound? Those are truckers who are with us all the way,” Actually the truckers horn blowing was to protest dipping shipping rates and demanding aid from the federal government to continue work and move goods.

So?

A candidate for quote of the week comes from George Conway, husband of White House cheerleader Kellyanne: “Trump’s narcissism deadens any ability he might otherwise have had to carry out the duties of a president in the manner the Constitution requires. He’s so self-obsessed, he can only act for himself, not for the nation.”

Three loses certainly worth noting...that of rock legend Little Richard, Roy Horn of the long playing Vegas duo Seigfried and Roy plus the ever funny Jerry Stiller of Seinfeld fame.

We have to realize that certain people will violate the relaxing of some public restrictions.  Babbling about “their rights” they’ll endanger themselves and others for their lack of reason. What else is new?

Another in the tension filled exchanges between Trump and reporters during his “briefings”, which are neither brief nor enlightening. His temper was once again evident recently when he lashed out at a pair of female reporters which he seems to do frequently. By the way, both of those reporters were of color.

President Obama has called the Trump handling of the corona 19 virus situation “an absolute chaotic disaster”. Senate leader and lifetime pubic sponge Mitch McConnell now has stated that Obama “should keep his mouth shut’, It’s always been obvious McConnell knows little about “class”.

Certainly, the so called chief executive should be entered in the Guinness Book. Seems on Mother’s Day he tweeted or retweeted 126 times. I guess that’s why has no time to express empathy for the people affected by the corona virus. .

Jimmy Kimmel says that Fox News is poking fun at people who are staying home and remaining out of work. Meantime they’ve announced they’re keeping their offices closed through June 15th !

No2

Despite the current difficulties of these days, I am so blessed to have such an inspiration, an incomparable person who transforms dark into light, makes all worthwhile....my life partner, best friend and forever Love, My beautiful Bev.

A far-reaching coronavirus economic stimulus package failed to advance in the U.S. Senate on Monday as Democrats said” it contained too little money for hospitals and not enough restrictions on a fund to help big businesses. “Republicans accused Democrats of obstruction during a national emergency.”“The country is burning and your side wants to play political games,” said Republican Senator John Thune, who accusied Democrats of “dilly-dallying around.” Democrats said they were close to an agreement with Republicans and predicted a modified version would win passage soon.. A time of severe national crisis and our elected officials can’t unite on a solution. .How shameful.

What with the huge variety of comedy, drama. sports, etc filling our flat screens these days it’s easy to see the amount of re-run entertainment we have available for these behind closed doors days. Certainly “Golden Girls” must be a high ranking example. .Good show--excellent cast.

These “briefings” are anything bu.t. Are we getting facts and truth or campaign for reelection babble? .Disparity seems to exist at times regarding facts and fantasy.. Administration claims and medical facts often appear not to jibe. This certainly is a time for truth, not a tap dance.

Dr. Anthony Fauci told Science magazine that he can only go so far to correct the president. “I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down,“ Trump shot back on Twitter that "we cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself.”.

It’s totally unbelievable that there are those who fail to self- isolate but rather continue to gather with others despite the warnings. Don’t get it.
